Kate Winslet looks absolutely amazing as the new cover girl of 'Glamour' US April 2011. Natural and genuine as always, the Oscar winning actress opens up for the magazine speaking about her
professional life, her winning an Academy Award, her weight and plastic surgeries, but also about how challenging is to raise kids.
Kate Winslet graces the April 2011 cover of 'Glamour' US rocking a sexy, black Hervé Léger by Max Azria dress. The 35-years-old is a mature, down-to-earth woman who perfectly combines her professional and family life. Still, she doesn't lose her femininity and glamorous side. The photo shoot for 'Glamour' was made in New York City by Matthias Vriens-McGrath.
Inside the magazine, Kate talks about a wide range of topics, even about her weight and being heavy when she was younger. "I will tell you that when I was heavy, people would say to me - and it was such a backhanded compliment - they would say, 'You’ve got such a beautiful face,' in the way of, like, 'Oh, isn’t it a shame that from the neck down you’re questionable" she says.
Besides, when being asked whether she would want to change anything about her body, Kate admits that she never had plastic surgery. "I don’t have parts of my body that I hate or would like to trade for somebody else’s or wish I could surgically adjust into some fantasy version of what they are."
We can only imagine the importance of winning an Academy Award. For Kate, this was a huge achievement. "…I was the kid who never won the races. I never jumped the highest. I wasn’t on the list of the high-achieving. That wasn’t me, so winning the Oscar was like winning all the prizes in one single night that I never won as a kid. For me, it was an internal-fist-pumping moment of yes," she told 'Glamour'.
On how her life and ambitions changed after winning the award, Winslet says she just wanted to be an actress. "That’s always been my goal. I didn’t want to be famous. I wanted to play incredibly challenging, multifaceted characters. Because we are all a puzzle."
Kate Winslet is not just an incredibly talented actress, but also a mom. Speaking about the problems she encounters raising her children, Kate says that "the challenge is making sure that they’re never treated different just because I sometimes am. I always want them to be regular kids who are grateful and respectful of other human beings. I want them to know that when we fly first-class, that they are lucky. The highest compliment I could ever receive about my kids—and I can say that this does happen frequently—is when the in-flight crew say to me, 'Your children are wonderful. They are so well-behaved.' Every time I am told that, I could weep."
Asked about her future plans and what she believes her life will be like in five years, Kate Winslet admits that she doesn't want to know. "I don’t want to know. As long as my kids are OK, I think it is really good for me not to have the answers."
